Artist Emily Dawn Clark

Emily lives in Danville and Lake Toxaway, NC, and was an art and English major at Centre College. Emily was the first recipient of the Mildred and David Wood Art Prize. She earned a Masters Degree in Library Science from the University of Kentucky. Emily served as Regional Librarian in Kentucky in an era of development of rural public library service.

Emily and her husband, Merle, have restored five historic buildings, including their home an 1830 Federal house in Danville. Because of her involvement with several significant preservation projects, she has been recognized with the Ida Lee Willis Service to Preservation Award by the Kentucky Heritage Council.

In recent years she has studied oil painting with artist Bill Fletcher in Lexington, Kentucky. Emily focuses on the enjoyment of oil painting and the challenge of learning and progressing with each painting. She is a member of the Gathering Artist and the Lake Toxaway Artist Guild. Her work is shown in Juried exhibits in Kentucky and in the annual Lake Toxaway Art Show.
